With your choice of a Single Day Pass (any day) or an All-Weekend Pass, NYC Photo Stroll and Bob Greco will be facilitating a Portraiture Workshop intensive from Friday, May 31st to Sunday, June 2, 2024. The workshop will be held at Wyckoff Windows Studio in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Our guest instructor cohort includes Emily Swift, Dan Hureira, Sade Boyewa El, Naeem Douglas, Carl Rickard and Ingridi Viruel. Combining the learnings of artistic direction, visual storytelling and experimentation, participants will practice the essential skills needed to produce compelling portraits within a collaborative, inventive studio setting. On Day 1: Building Blocks, the workshop will start with the essentials of portraiture photography, including preparation, composition, lighting, and meaningful artistic direction. On Day 2: Community, participants will collaborate with each other individually and in a series of group activities to learn and practice the essentials of group portraiture. On Day 3: Experimental, the workshop will shift towards the implementation of photographic techniques, allowing for unique and original strategies to be employed. Ultimately, the emphasis will be on visual storytelling, thoughtful engagement with portraiture subjects, and exploring a range of styles in portraiture photography. As a bonus, participants will learn how to use the 4x5 Crown Graphic camera and walk away with instax portraits that they capture. All skill levels are welcome. Although it’s not necessary, you are encouraged to bring your own camera(s) as well. Refreshments and food will be served.
